Paraa is a research-based design and architecture studio that focuses on improving lives and spaces within communities in Bangladesh and beyond through multidisciplinary and participatory practices. Conceived in 2011 as a social enterprise, Paraa was initially led by Mohammad Ruhul Abdin, Kazi Arefin, Abbas Nokhasteh, and Nazmus Saquib Choudhury. Paraa’s practice spans architecture, urban planning, film, publications, fashion, participatory methods, workshops, strategic planning, events, exhibitions, seminars, and product and interior design. The studio has curated events and exhibitions in London and Dhaka as part of its knowledge-sharing initiative. Key projects like Bamboo Playscape, BANGLA art installation, and collaborations like CADSE course showcase their diverse, human-centric portfolio. Currently working on a gallery space and public intervention, Paraa continues its commitment to community improvement and comprehensive design philosophy.
