Sadiq Daud + Sonam Letho

Sadiq Daud | Afghanistan

With over 17 years of experience in conserving and restoring historical monuments in Afghanistan, Sadiq Daud has worked with the Aga Khan Cultural Services in the country as a project architect, leading key projects in Herat, Balkh, and Kabul.

In 2004, Daud was commissioned to Herat for the conservation of buildings and monuments in the Old City under the framework of the Herat Historic City Support Program. He began his professional career with the organisation as an assistant architect, eventually working on projects ranging from small-scale restorations—such as the Malik Cistern, Atarbashi House, and Rokhband Cistern—to large-scale projects like the preservation of the Arbabzadah Market and the significant restoration of Ikhtyaruddin Citadel. In 2011, he moved to Balkh, where he worked on the conservation of Subhan Quli Gate, Khwaja Parsa Mosque, and other small Timurid shrines and mosques in the city.
